The Department of Journalism in the College of Communication, Information and Media at Ball State University invites applications for a tenure-track assistant or associate professor in the Emerging Media Design & Development graduate program beginning August, 2017. The successful candidate will be expected to teach, maintain a scholarly agenda of research and/or creative endeavors, and provide service to the Center for Emerging Media Design & Development and the Department of Journalism.
Major responsibilities: The successful candidate should demonstrate an ability to teach graduate courses in emerging media design and development, which include transmedia and interactive storytelling, and design thinking; actively pursue creative endeavors for external peer review and/or publish scholarly research in digital storytelling, digital video, user experience or related areas; serve on department, collegiate, and university committees as assigned; perform other duties as assigned by the department chairperson.
Minimum qualifications: Earned PhD by August 19, 2017, in film, digital storytelling, digital journalism, media arts and science, media informatics or related field from an accredited college or university; ability to teach transmedia storytelling, interactive storytelling, user experience, and/or interactive design and development; and a defined scholarly research and/or creative endeavor plan.
Preferred qualifications: Professional digital storytelling experience with an emphasis on web and video; graduate level teaching experience; record of creative endeavors with successful peer review or a scholarly research record with corresponding publications.
