Nevada’s top print and online news organization, The Las Vegas Review-Journal, is looking for a high-energy, detail-oriented, organized and motivated assistant city editor. We're seeking an experienced journalist able to spot trends, be a watchdog, cultivate enterprise as well as recognize breaking news of importance to readers in Southern Nevada.
We need someone who can motivate reporters as a strong mentor, fine-tune copy and function as part of a team.
This job requires strong print and digital news judgment, familiarity with online and social media tools and a sense of urgency.
-- Direct the work of five reporters;
-- Assign and edit content for print and online;
-- Ensure that appropriate art is assigned for each story;
-- Plan and execute enterprise packages;
-- Work with the Metro Editor to ensure a comprehensive daily local news report.
-- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, English or related field;
-- Ten years of reporting/editing experience;
-- Ability to multitask;
-- Ability to work quickly and efficiently on deadline;
-- Experience with online publishing, social media and video;
-- Experience working with other journalists on team projects.
