Simpler Media Group is a small, rapidly growing media and events company based in San Francisco with additional operations in New York, Boston and Paris. Our focus is building niche B2B communities with a focus on customer-facing digital experience, the employee-facing digital workplace and enterprise information management.
This position is for a New York City-based Editorial Assistant, working with the Editorial Manager and the rest of the editorial team supporting a range of activities for CMSWire.com.
The position will offer the right individual an opportunity to gain experience in a fast paced digital media environment and training on commonly used digital tools for collaboration, documents, analytics, social media and publishing.
We are looking for a highly detail oriented and self-motivated candidate with excellent communication, organization and time management skills who is looking to evolve both personally and professionally.
You'll work closely with your manager to conduct daily editorial department operations. Responsibilities include:
Processing inbound article submissions
Helping to coordinate our community of contributors
Managing our online events calendar
Helping to coordinate online events like Tweet Jams
Assisting with post publishing marketing operations, including social media
Identifying and recruiting new contributing members for our community
Updating weekly and monthly analytical reports and packaging for presentation
Entering articles into the publishing system and correcting any image or HTML issues discovered in the process
Assisting with daily editing duties, as your understanding of our coverage develops
You'll be trained, evaluated and receive constructive feedback based on several of the same metrics that our customers use to judge us: professionalism, accuracy and timeliness.
BA degree or relevant experience in digital publishing (journalism a plus); 1 year of editorial or administrative experience; demonstrated history of independent work; basic HTML editing; knowledge of AP style guide; ability to work with a distributed team via online tools; experience using Google Apps for calendaring, documents and email.
Bonus Skills: Google Analytics, Parse.ly, Slack, Social Media Marketing
You will work remotely, with face to face meetings with your supervisor on a bi-weekly basis.

Hours: M-F business hours (full time) Eastern Time (with some flexibility)
Location: New York City (mainly telecommute, occasional in-person meetings required).
