CBS Television Stations consists of 29 owned-and-operated stations, including 16 that are part of the CBS Television Network, eight affiliates of The CW Network, three independent stations and two MyNetworkTV affiliates. Among its stations are WCBS-TV and WLNY-TV (New York), KCBS-TV and KCAL-TV (Los Angeles), WBBM-TV (Chicago), KYW-TV and WPSG-TV (Philadelphia), KTVT-TV and KTXA-TV (Dallas-Ft. Worth), KPIX-TV and KBCW-TV (San Francisco), WBZ-TV and WSBK-TV (Boston), WUPA-TV (Atlanta), WWJ-TV and WKBD-TV (Detroit), KSTW-TV (Seattle), WTOG-TV (Tampa-St. Petersburg), WCCO-TV (Minneapolis), KCNC-TV (Denver), WFOR-TV and WBFS-TV (Miami), KOVR-TV and KMAX-TV (Sacramento), KDKA-TV and WPCW-TV (Pittsburgh), WJZ-TV (Baltimore), as well as WCCO-TV’s satellite stations KCCO-TV (Alexandria, Minn.) and KCCW-TV (Walker, Minn.).
WWJ-TV/WKBD-TV, the CBS-owned duopoly in Detroit, has an opening for a Weather Reporter. This is a part-time, as-needed position with duties including, but not limited to, serving as Weather Reporter, Tape/Video Editor, and Program Announcer as well as making appearances as a representative of the stations at locations or events as assigned. This position will have no specific schedule and will be needed approximately ten (10) to twelve (12) times per year in late afternoon and evenings, primarily on weekends and holidays and occasionally with little notice.
The Weather Reporter will prepare and deliver weather reports and forecasts on-air and on digital platforms at regularly-scheduled times, either live or recorded, and additional times as needed during severe weather. The qualified candidate will possess very strong, clear and informative on-air presentation skills and must have severe weather and forecasting experience. The Weather Reporter will also analyze weather data and synthesize the information into clear, easy-to-understand graphics and must have the ability to present weathercasts from the studio or on-location if necessary.
Requirements: A minimum of three years of television broadcast experience with solid operating knowledge of weather forecasting and presentation software is required.
Preferred: A degree in Meteorology or related science is preferred. Candidates designated as Certified Broadcast Meteorologist by the American Meteorological Society will get top consideration.
