Hours: Part Time- 20-30 (Flexible but ideally start 10-10:30) / Full-Time 9AM-5PM
Read and edit copy in various marketing communication pieces for both print and digital checking for spelling, grammatical, typographical errors and to maintain a consistent voice. Copy-editor/Proofreader will be responsible for ensuring that names, places, phone numbers, urls and organizations are not only accurate and spelled correctly but that facts, urls and dates are accurate. They must be familiar with the AP Stylebook using it as a default for items not outlined in our own guidelines. They must understand and use proofreading marks.
Must show an understanding of our tone and style as outlined in our brand guidelines to ensure compliance to the brand guidelines, calling out any questions. Fact checking is part of the role. Not only will they ensure that the copy is free of errors but they need to keep copy engaging and on brand. While it is the agencies responsibility to align with the brand guidelines, it is this roles’ responsibility to ensure that the material is on brand and in our tone as described in our brand guidelines.
Copy-editor/Proofreader will be responsible for ensuring revisions were made (sometimes across multiple revisions) and at the same time ensure copy consistency across marketing deliverables but possesses the ability to understand the context of what is being stated in case a variance is needed.
A passion for writing is needed along with a sharp eye for detail and the ability to work well under pressure. They may work on a variety of marketing communications and must manage their own deadlines. They are required to have a technical background. (Technology, Health, Pharmaceutical) Preferably 7-10 years.
This is a large corporation but they will work in a small team environment. There is a high volume of work that passes through. Estimate 200 pieces a month from both Creative Services, Direct Marketing and Retail.
A degree in journalism, English or related field experience preferred. Experience in a related tech industry a plus.
