The J. William & Mary Diederich College of Communication at
Marquette University seeks a media studies scholar with an emphasis
on new and emerging media and an ability to help grow our
investigative journalism program. This position requires expertise
in data analytics and data visualization and an ability to
contribute to conceptual and theoretical discussions about new
media, new technology, and the intersection of communication
technology and contemporary social, economic, and political
challenges. Demonstrated experience and/or commitment to
working with diverse communities is highly desired.
This is a tenure-track position at the assistant or associate
professor level. The faculty member would carry a teaching
load of 2/3 for the academic year and be expected to fulfill other
duties associated with the position.
Candidates should have the ability to teach courses that will
contribute to our investigative journalism program and be willing
to work with faculty to grow the journalism and media studies
program. Recent professional experience in journalism
desired. Ph.D. required.
The facilities include two digital television studios, two audio
studios, digital editing suites, and various computer graphics
platforms. These facilities are used as classrooms and
laboratories by majors from across the college, and also by
students participating in the student operated campus television
and radio stations. A new gift to the college will lead to
enhancement and upgrade of these facilities in summer 2018.
